The Madison Arts Council (MAC) kicks-off spring with the 3rd annual Art 4 Paws Festival on Saturday, April 5, 2014.  This free event takes place in historic downtown Madison from 10am to 3pm.

The Festival merges two great American past times, art and pets.  With a range of activities, this outdoor event offers something for everyone in the family, including Fido.

In a section called “The Village Green”, visitors will find an array of  art and crafts, including jewelry, paintings, ceramics, garden statues, and custom pet themed wares. “We are excited to have many of our 2013 vendors returning, plus new faces from as far away as Georgia”, said Festival Chairman, Beth Ridgeway.

New this year is an amateur Dog Show and a canine agility course for visitors to try out. The Dog Show is open to all breeds with registration starting at 1:30 pm and judging at 2:00 pm. Categories include “Smallest”, “Largest”, “Best Dressed”, “Best Trick”, “Best Personality” and a “Best in Show”. Ribbons and plaques will be awarded in each of the six categories. There is a $5 fee to participate with proceeds benefiting the Madison Arts Council Teacher Grant Program.

If you are looking to add a new pet to your household, Art 4 Paws provides the perfect opportunity to meet eligible “furry friends” in person. More than ten animal rescue groups will be on-site showcasing cats, dogs, and bunnies too.

There will be kid activities, food vendors, and special guests including the Madison Police K-9 unit.

Don’t leave without taking your pup on the red carpet for his or her special photo to remember the event by.

Art 4 Paws is a rain or shine event. Front Street will be closed to ensure safety of our visitors. However, there is plenty of free parking available along Main and Church Street.
