Columbia Elementary School Drama Club will present Roald Dahl’s timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this musical stage adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which features the songs from the classic family film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Roald Dahl’s WILLY WONKA JR., featuring a memorable score by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka (Zoe Sorensen, 6th grade) as Wonka stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five scrumptious candy bars. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats (played by Graysen Furber, 3rd grade; Carly Parker, 3rd grade; Heather Brady, 4th grade; Gavin Newberry, 5th grade): the fifth is the likeable Charlie Bucket (Katie Beth Davis, 5th grade) who takes the tour in the company of the equally amiable grandfather (Tyler Bagley, 5th grade). The children must learn to follow Wonka’s rules in the factory–or suffer the consequences.
